A progress report of an investigation of checker brick for carbureters which is being conducted by the Department of Ceramic Engineering of the University of Illinois in coöperation with the gas companies of northern Illinois has been presented. The methods used in carrying out commercial and laboratory tests and the data so far obtained have been submitted for discussion and criticism. When the investigation has been completed a final report will be made.
