SUMMARY. Recent technological advances in assisted reproduction and publicity accompanying surrogacy arrangements have raised questions about the extent to which such practices should be subjected to formal regulatory control. For the most part, the consequences for children created following the successful application of assisted reproduction techniques have been ignored. This paper examines the implications of the techniques and the proposals for their regulation for these children
