Melano‐macrophage centres in the spleen and liver of platy Xiphophorus maculatus contain iron and may recycle iron compounds. The sinusoidal tissue in the platy spleen and trunk kidney can take up much foreign ferritin, and may clear the circulation for waste and foreign macromolecules and particles.
