Including the effects of length of daily feeding period on food consumption by metamorphosed 0‐group Baltic herring in Arrhenius & Hansson's ( Marine Ecology Progress Series 110 , 145–149; 114 , 314) bioenergetics model improved its predictive accuracy, and accounted for consumption earlier in the season and lower daily consumption in autumn.
