A new method for tracking nocturnal reef fishes using a Cyalume light stick is described. The Cyalume is attached to the dorsal musculature using dissolvable sutures. The tagged fish can then be monitored throughout the night. Potential uses and problems are discussed. Key words: tagging; nocturnal fishes; tracking; Cyalumes.
