Mitochondrial DNA variation was examined in two populations of Atlantic cod from the North Sea and the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. Eight restriction enzymes revealed no major genetic difference between these eastern and western populations. These results are discussed in relation to earlier electrophoretic studies on this species.
