Diploid and triploid hybrids resulted when grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella , and big‐head carp, Hypophthalmichthys nobilis , were experimentally hybridized. Erythrocyte size can be used to distinguish C. idella × H. nobilis hybrids of different ploidies.
