Smears were taken from the eyes, spleen and blood from rainbow trout collected from a fish farm and classified as clinically sick, under treatment, recovered and apparently healthy. The smears were examined microscopically and the bacteria present identified as Aeromonads or Streptococci. The results indicated a high incidence of Aeromonads in the eye and the spleen but not the blood in all groups including those apparently healthy while streptococci were present in the blood as well as the eye and the spleen.
