The acanthocephalan, Gracilisentis gracilisentis , infects the pyloric caeca and small intestine of Dorosoma cepedianum . Sections of intestinal tissue were examined microscopically and indicated pathological lesions were produced by G. gracilisentis in the mucosa and submucosa. G. gracilisentis occurs during the period of seasonal mortalities of D. cepedianum and may be responsible for such mortalities.
