Mr W. Gilbert Hartley was the Convenor of the Electrical Fishing Working Party for E.I.F.A.C. and until his retirement he worked at the Salmon and Freshwater Fishery Laboratory of the British Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. He is recognised internationally as an expert on the use of electricity on fish. We are therefore privileged to publish his comments on this subject . E ditor
