Ultrasound fetal weight estimation is a key element of obstetric management in pregnancy complicated by diabetes. Ultrasound estimates based on formulae utilizing abdominal circumference measurements only appear more accurate in this group of women. However, they are still associated with errors of up to 25% of the true birthweight.
