SUMMARY A case of self‐administered overdosage of colchicine is described. Despite gastrointestinal, hærnopoietic, neurological, hepatic and renal damage, together with alopecia, stomatitis, fever, transient hypertension and arthralgia, the patient survived. This wide range of toxic effects has been recorded in animal experiments, but seldom occurs in humans. Elevation of the blood pressure has not previously been reported in this condition.
