Summary A girl, aged seven years, who presented with hæmolytic anæmia, was found to have elliptocytosis. The inherited red‐cell anomaly was found in two of her siblings, her mother, and eight of her mother's relatives, but none suffered from hæmolytic anæmia. The elliptocyte gene was linked to the Rh blood group, and no instance of recombination was found.
