Summary Radiological studies of the upper part of the alimentary tract were made in 72 subjects with Parkinsonism and 264 control subjects of a similar age distribution. A significantly greater incidence of hiatus hernia, gastro‐œsophageal reflux, segmental spasm of the oesophagus and delayed cesophageal passage of contrast medium occurred in the Parkinsonian patients. Possible reasons for these findings are discussed.
