Summary One hundred and sixty‐seven patients with bundle branch block personally examined have been studied, with special reference to ætiology and prognosis. Twenty‐seven patients were examined before the development of the bundle branch block, and 10 patients with transient and nine patients with intermittent bundle branch block were observed. A previously unsuspected association of right bundle branch block and aortic incompetence was seen in eight patients. The mechanism of bundle branch block is discussed in the light of these experiences.
