Abstract Prescribing choices between generic and branded medications are not without consequence, and these decisions require careful consideration as these may potentially lead to patient confusion, medication errors and adverse events. Understanding our prescribing decisions may allow for greater patient autonomy and involvement, and potentially minimise medication‐related harms.
