This study explores T‐cell‐specific genome organization and reveals a long noncoding RNA ( Dreg1 ) in an enhancer of the Gata3 gene. We characterize the full sequence of Dreg1 and find that its expression is highly correlated with Gata3 expression throughout early T‐cell development and in T helper type 2 differentiation. Inhibition and overexpression of Dreg1 in T‐ and B‐cell lines suggest that it may be involved in the establishment, but not in the maintenance of Gata3 expression.
