Summary The administration of paraoxypropiophenone failed to influence theso–called sebotrophic factor. Paraoxypropiophenone, in fact, inhibited at least the production of the gonadotrophic hormone(FSH). Results favor the hormonal theory of the origin of acne—a relative increase in the androgen level. Experiments will have to be continued and results will have to be followed longer after administration of gonadotrophic hormone in acne.
