Summary Of 1,256 Filipino patients seen in the author's dermatologie practice in Manila, 103 (8.2 percent) had lichen simplex chronicus. This was a relatively high incidence, comparable to that of Orientals residing in the United States. Of the 103 cases of lichen simplex chronicus, 61 were females and 42 males, for a ratio of 3 :2. The average age of the patients was 42 years. The ankle was unquestionably the site of predilection.
