Despite their frequency, the pathogenesis for the appearance of eruptive cherry angiomas (CAs) has been poorly investigated. In the present cross-sectional study, the role of age, gender, malignancies, and systemic chronic immunosuppressive treatments in inducing eruptive CAs has been investigated in 1302 consecutive patients.\udAdvanced age but also tumors, particularly skin tumors, and chronic iatrogenic immunosuppression have been found to be associated with eruptive CA occurrence. Among these, chronic immunosuppression resulted in the variable most strongly associated with eruptive CAs. These data show for the first time the imbalance of skin immune competence to be a key predisposing factor for the development of CAs
