Welcome spring! the Island is looking better than ever, thanks to all of the hard work being done to our roads and beautiful landscaping venues. It’s the perfect time to present some lovely landscaping done by Island Garden Center owner Alan Brown, Certified Landscape designer Marjorie Appleby and the very determined and creative Marco Islander Judy Haig, who transformed her vacant adjacent lot into a peaceful, serene and picturesque walking garden. I always like to clarify any misunderstandings from previous issues, and the Dream House feature from the February issue was such a hit—I received numerous phone calls and emails about that lovely home; however, I neglected to mention the architect for the project was Bill Lewis—nice job, Bill! Many of our readers may not know that in addition to Marco magazine, I’m also the editor for the Marco Eagle’s Paradise magazine. In the March issue of Paradise I did a feature on Kim and toby Yapaolo’s new York trends salon and spa. to my absolute horror I printed the wrong telephone number—the correct number is 239-389-1300—my sincerest apologies to Kim and toby. Congratulations are in order for Gary and sandy elliott, owners of Interiors, Interiors, Interiors on Collier Boulevard, for being chosen to participate in two design houses—one for the naples Designer show House, where sandy designed the dining room in a Caribbean motif. the theme of the second show House at the International Design Center is a classic family room with a modern and Asian influence. It’s a sophisticated, elegant look, but very welcoming and comfortable. the show House is now open and will run through the summer and benefits the southwest Florida symphony. so many wonderful events have been hosted during the past few months, and I had to expand our Social Studies feature for this issue to accommodate as much coverage as possible—I can’t include everything, but I always want to know what’s going on so I can present as many good causes as possible. Again, this is the tiniest Island with the biggest heart, and I’m so touched by all of the people who champion such wonderful charitable and beneficial causes. I had the good fortune recently to attend the H. Lee Moffitt Foundation’s annual fundraiser at the Ritz Carlton in naples—an organization I ardently support because of all the good things the fine professionals there did for my late husband. It was a lovely event, and I’m always available to anyone who would like more information about the hospital and all the great things they do. Please keep your phone calls, emails and letters coming in... they bring me a lot of pleasure, and I want to keep up to date on everything that’s happening in and around the Island.
