The Study of Headache in the 1950s in L atin A merica by E dgard R affaelli J únior (1930‐2006)

The aim of this study was to review the life of E dgard R affaelli J únior (1930‐2006) and to summarize his important contributions to the study of headaches. He was the first doctor to study headaches in L atin A merica, and for 50 years he advanced the understanding of headaches worldwide. He was born in S ão P aulo, B razil, on M arch 2, 1930 and died on D ecember 29, 2006. He founded the B razilian H eadache S ociety and was one of the organizers and founders of the I nternational H eadache S ociety. Following R affaelli, many L atin A merican doctors have since been inspired to study headaches.
