We estimated the pharmacological efficacy of vitamin K 1 ( VK 1 ) and VK 2 on the mitogen‐activated peripheral blood mononuclear cells ( PBMC s) of paediatric atopic dermatitis ( AD ) patients. VK 2 suppressed the in vitro proliferation of T‐cell mitogen‐activated PBMC s of AD patients. In contrast, VK 1 had little effect on the PBMC proliferation. The IL ‐2 production from the activated PBMC s of AD patients significantly increased ( P  <   .05), while the production significantly decreased by 100 μmol L −1 VK 2 ( P  <   .01). In addition, 100 μmol L −1 VK 2 reduced the percentage of CD 4+ and CD 4+ CD 25+ cells in PBMC s. These results suggest that VK 2 can modulate T‐cell function in PBMC s of AD patients.
