Summary This report describes the successful surgical management of abdominal abscessation secondary to S trongylus edentatus migration. Abdominal abscesses are a relatively common source of recurrent fever in the horse and are primarily managed with long‐term antimicrobial administration. However, identification of the definitive cause, extent of the abscesses and successful resolution in this case were not possible without an exploratory celiotomy to facilitate surgical resection.
