In June 2016, abnormal growth and rolling of young leaves of bay laurel, Laurus nobilis , were observed in private gardens and in ornamental nurseries near Sousse (Tunisia). Symptomatic plants were examined, and insects present on leaves were collected and identified as the bay sucker Trioza alacris Flor (Hemiptera: Triozidae). Information on the nature of the damage caused and a review of pest distribution are provided. The predatory bug Anthocoris nemoralis was also observed feeding on T. alacris colonies.
