G ilpinia albiclavata H ara, sp. nov. is described from H onshu, J apan. Larvae feed on needles of P inus pumila ( P inaceae). Since 2001, severe infestations of the sawfly have been often observed in the J apanese A lps. Notes on the immature stages and the life history are presented.
