New species of L onchaeidae ( D iptera: S chizophora) from J apan and a re‐evaluation of genus S etisquamalonchaea M orge

Three new species of L onchaeidae are described from material reared from fig syconia in J apan: S ilba inubiwa sp. nov., S . ishigaki sp. nov. and S . japonica sp. nov. Based on the taxonomy of these and similar species the boundaries of the genus S ilba are re‐evaluated, and, as a result, it is considered that S etisquamalonchaea   M orge is synonymous with S ilba   M acquart. A revised key and generic notes on the tribe L onchaeini are provided.
