A 53‐year‐old, previously healthy woman, presented to her primary care physician with a three‐month history of daily non‐productive coughing, accompanied by fatigue, anorexia, abdominal pain and distension. Upon clinical examination, she was afebrile with normal vital signs. An abdominal examination revealed the existence of ascites. A paracentesis was carried out obtaining 60 ml of a blood stained serous fluid.
