Summary Saxifraga hypnoides L., mossy saxifrage or Dovedale moss, is illustrated. Its history, distribution in northern Europe and cultivation are discussed. Its survival in the face of a warmer climate is mentioned in connection with the last remaining population in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset.
