Summary The history of the discovery and naming of Strobilanthes nutans ( N ees) T . A nderson is provided. It is described and illustrated. Some of the problems in trying to subdivide the genus Strobilanthes are discussed in the context of highlighting the distinctive features of S. nutans including the distinctive cone‐like inflorescence, the white flowers and the subglobose incurved anthers.
