Summary The South African geophyte Ixia mostertii M.P. de Vos is a beautiful but highly threatened species endemic to the Upper Breede River Valley in the south‐western Cape. Details of its history and threats to its habitat and possible restoration are given, with notes on taxonomy, pollination and cultivation.
