In 2011, a 64-year-old female had a pacemaker implanted in the left pectoral region to treat intermittent second-degree AV block (Mobitz II) and presyncope. The pacemaker was made by Medtronic (DDD Medtronic Sensia SED01). The device pulse generator, device controller-monitor and leads were coated with various materials (polyurethane, polysulfone, silicone rubber, titanium, parylene-coated titanium, platinum–iridium, and nickel MP35N) to reduce infections and reactions.
