The zebrafish (B) is a tropical fish suitable for genetic analysis. Because the embryos are transparent (A), the processes of morphogenesis such as angiogenesis can be visualized by the expression of fluorescent proteins driven by tissue‐specific promoters (C). Thus, the zebrafish is a useful model organism for the analysis of human genetic disorders. Further details can be seen in the article by Ota and Kawahara in this issue.
