Our autopsy case showed that perivascular macrophages or perimeningeal macrophages were rarely replaced in the human CNS by the peripherally derived macrophages for at least 2 years. Human tissue‐resident macrophages in the CNS are long‐lived and are rarely replaced as most of the resident macrophages observed in the animal models.
