Key Messages Accredited zoos in Canada are involved in species‐at‐risk recovery efforts on provincial, federal, and international levels. Accredited zoos participate in recovery of species at risk through research, captive breeding and reintroduction, writing recovery strategies, and creating recovery policy. Accredited zoos have the space, expertise, apolitical status, and public connections necessary to aid in the recovery of at‐risk species in Canada.
