With growing calls to improve value in health care, the assessment of surgical outcomes has moved to the spotlight. Public awareness of medical errors has spurred initiatives like the ProPublica “Surgeon Scorecard” to measure and report complications (h t t p s : //projects. propublica. org/surgeons/).
