In this interview by email, Bob Hinshelwood responds to a set of questions about the BJP from the current Editorial Board. The questions focus on the Journal's origins and development, and on the nature of its project. What was the gap, what was he trying to do? How long did it take to get a Journal into print? What questions did he try to answer? How were the politics of the early days? What were the highlights and lowlights in ownership of the Journal? Is he pleased to see the Clinical Commentaries return? How does he feel about the Journal's relationship with psychoanalysis? How would he like to be remembered? In his responses he emphasizes the personal nature of his recollections, rather than a setting down of historical fact.
