This response to Lesley Caldwell's paper on Winnicott and Being explores some of the ramifications of Winnicott's work on current developments in clinical theory. Four questions are posed, touching on the topics of psychosomatic dissociation, the place of the object in Winnicott's thought, the role of non‐communication, and the status of the concept of regression.
