It was 37 years ago that the International Society for Artificial Organs was formed in August 1977 and the first issue of Artificial Organs was published as the official journal of the International Society for Artificial Organs—now the International Federation for Artificial Organs (IFAO). Later, Artificial Organs also became the official journal of the International Faculty for Artificial Organs (INFA) and the International Society for Rotary Blood Pumps (ISRBP). The International Society for Pediatric Mechanical Cardiopulmonary Support (ISPMCS) has joined the IFAO, INFA, and the ISRBP in choosing Artificial Organs as their official journal. On behalf of the Editors, the members of the Editorial Board as well as the Board of Trustees, I would like to extend our welcome to the ISPMCS.We are pleased to announce this formal publishing relationship. Over the last 4 years, the membership of the ISPMCS has been a valuable and frequent contributor to the journal as Artificial Organs (1) has been the vehicle for publication of abstracts and selected peer-reivewed papers presented at the Annual Congress of the ISPMCS. We have published 104 papers in the annual Special Issues dedicated to this congress—in addition to the abstracts and the papers that were published in regular issues of the journal. We believe this publishing affiliation will continue to bring important publications from the members of the ISPMCS to the readership of Artificial Organs and enhance the exposure of their research findings. We thank the ISPMCS for choosing Artificial Organs as their official journal. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship between us.
