Aerobic exercise during pregnancy, as compared with being more sedentary, is associated with a significantly reduced overall risk of gestational hypertensive disorders and cesarean delivery. Therefore, it is recommended to perform 150 minutes of moderate activity weekly in low risk pregnancies. In obese women, exercising during pregnancy decreases the rate of preterm birth.
