This editorial concludes that the blood‐based mRNA biomarker for subclinical rejection after kidney transplantation that was recently developed by the CTOT‐08 consortium will not have universal value but needs to be interpreted relative to center practice of performing or not performing surveillance kidney allograft biopsies.
