On the cover this month: Pregnancy and childbirth are undeniably dramatic events. Immunologically, they define elements of tolerance and alloimmunity that remain incompletely understood, and their study can certainly teach us about immune management. Socially, they are fundamental life events that are often denied to patients with chronic illness; as such, their occurrence signals a return to health for many patients whose lives are restored through transplantation. This month, AJT presents several articles that illuminate the intersections between transplantation and pregnancy. Paige Porrett ( page 1059) provides an informative biological overview of pregnancy‐induced allosensitization, followed by Sarkar et al's ( page 1068) minireview on female reproductive health following transplantation. Warren et al ( page 1122) report on the characteristics of nondirected uterus donors, and Testa et al ( page 1270) provide the first report of a successful live birth from a uterus allograft in the United States. Also, check out online videos accompanying the article by Salehi et al ( page 1096) that show the effects of alloantibody on monocyte recruitment to endothelial cells.
