A national analysis (Wainright et al, page 1129) and single‐center experience (Matas et al, page 1140) provide rigorous information about kidney failure in living donors and demonstrate that there are large variations by donor relationship and race, the cumulative incidence of kidney failure is nonlinear, and the early diagnosis and treatment of potentially modifiable conditions developing postdonation may reduce risk.
