On the cover this month: Transplantation has always been highly introspective and data‐driven, arguably leading the way with specific metrics to assess program performance. However, the surgical aspects of transplant performance have been less explicitly examined. This month, Parekh et al ( page 1719), in a Special Article, outline a new collaborative effort between the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons: the Transplant Quality Improvement Program (TransQIP). Modeled after the well‐established and more general National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), TransQIP will provide a standardized approach toward quality improvement and a means of benchmarking surgical performance across national centers. Cover figure by Lauren Halligan, Duke University Department of Surgery.
