Currently, very few institutions offer formal training programs for ancillary transplant staff, such as administrators, coordinators and procurement staff. In this issue of “The AJT Report,” we review the few existing programs available and explore what this gap in training may mean for the future of the transplantation workforce. Also in this issue, we look at a new NIH program designed to address disparities in surgical care, as well as the results of a study demonstrating a new combination treatment for patients with hepatitis C.
