The terminology that describes chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) is changing to include both obstructive and restrictive phenotypes, and so too is our understanding of how best to manage specific risk factors such as lymphocytic bronchiolitis (with azithromycin) and identify patients at higher risk of adverse outcomes from retransplantation (those with restrictive CLAD).
