The brief communication by Subramanian et al (page 2359) raises important questions about the central role of collagen type V and k‐α1‐tubulin in lung transplantation, and why these particular self‐antigens are so immunogenic that antibody to one, present at the time of lung transplantation, induces a rapid response to the other.
