Two new species of ptyctimous mites ( O ribatida: P hthiracaridae), A ustrophthiracarus hiore sp. nov. from N ew Z ealand and N otophthiracarus biputeus sp. nov. from A ustralia, are described and illustrated. Both new species have peculiar structural modification of the notogaster, which rarely occur in ptyctimous mites. A key to all known species of N otophthiracarus in A ustralia is also provided.
