D entifibula nigroapicalis   K olesik sp. nov . , a new species of gall midge, is described whose larvae were found preying on the mangrove scale insect A ulacaspis australis   B rimblecombe ( H emiptera: C occoidea: D iaspididae). The mangrove scale was feeding on leaves of the mangrove B ruguiera gymnorrhiza ( R hizophoraceae) in Q ueensland. The new species is the first D entifibula   F elt known from A ustralia.
