The hydrocarbon microbial exploration was a new technology developed on the basis of hydrocarbon chemical exploration, and it was belongs to the surface exploration system. And it is exploration principle was under the driving pressure of the formation, the light hydrocarbon components in the hydrocarbon reservoir migrate to the surface in the vertical micro-leakage mode, and the specific microorganisms in the surface soil develop and multiply with such light hydrocarbons as the carbon source. The number of surface microbes corresponding to the hydrocarbon area was significantly higher than that of the background area (non-hydrocarbon area). Using information on the quantity of oil and gas microbes in the surface soil samples of the exploration block, and according to the abnormal distribution of microorganisms, the distribution range of underlying reservoirs can be judged (Saunders et al,1998; Yan et al.,2014). Hydrocarbon microbial exploration has the characteristics of rapid stability, low cost and high accuracy, and has been paid more and more attention by the hydrocarbon exploration community, meanwhile, providing a new idea for hydrocarbon exploration.
